Thousands of devotees from various parts of the country took a holy dip in the Agnitheertham sea in front of the Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple here and paid obeisance to their forefathers by offering ‘tharpanam’ on the occasion of Thai Amavasya (new moon day) on Thursday.
After the temple authorities opened the temple at 3 a.m., devotees who started visiting the temple in large numbers since Wednesday, thronged the Agnitheertham to perform the rituals.

Two motorcyclist-borne men snatched 12 sovereigns of gold from a woman inside an apartment complex in Anna Nagar on Wednesday night. Police said B.
